Mount Serene is located close to Rustenburg and offers accommodation in a a fully refurbished railway carriage (has fireplace in lounge) as well as a private cottage. Mount Serene is located at the base of the Magaliesberg Mountains and offers some excellent walks and hikes along the mountains. Both units have their own pools and are distanced apart. The honeymoon cottage is made of solid stone from the Magaliesberg mountains, and built to accommodate a couple only. It comprises a bedroom with queen size bed, en suite bathroom with a 2 seater bathtub and double shower over the bath, plus a kitchen, dining room and lounge. A sliding door leads to a patio with private splash pool, braai and stunning view of the Magaliesberg cliffs, towering 350m higher than the cottage. This is the ultimate in privacy. If you wish to see anyone else during your stay here you will have to go out and look for them.The family unit is built into a 1937 wooden railway carriage which has been modified to accommodate up to 8 people in 3 separate cabins. One cabin has a double bed, the other 2 singles and the other 4 singles. There is a lounge, dining room, kitchen and modern bathroom, all well equipped for a comfortable, relaxing getaway. Patios on both sides of the carriage ensure there is always a choice of sun or shade, as well as spectacular views and great sunsets. The private pool is for the use of the carriage guests only. All crockery, cutlery, bedding and towels are provided. Yes! Even the railway coach has a log fireplace in the lounge.
